The Collaborative Community

"You shall love your neighbours as yourself" Mark 12:28-3, The Great Commandment

This project is aiming to synthesise knowledge acquired in previous design projects and other knowledges dealing with building construction and environmental building systems. It requires an understanding the relationship
between housing typologies, density and urban ecology, as well as the relationship between communal and individual space.

The topic of Studio Epsilon is collective housing and the design of multi-residential buildings in the present context of middle-ring suburbs in Melbourne, characterised by demographic changes, economic pressures and diversified ways of living.

The task is to seek new house and community solutions which are better suited to contemporary societal needs, also provide communal amenities and integrate other uses. There will be focuses on how people may live closer together, and how design can provide innovative and lasting solutions to support communal living.
